  • A Prayer for Mom’s & Dad’s

    Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray my sanity to keep. For if some peace I do not find, I'm pretty sure I'll lose my mind. I pray I find a little quiet Far from the daily family riot May I lie back -- not have to think about what they're stuffing down the sink, or who they're with, or where they're at and what they're doing to the cat. I pray for time all to myself (did something just fall off a shelf?) To cuddle in my nice, soft bed (Oh no, another goldfish -- dead!) Some silent moments for goodness sake (Did I just hear a window break?) Believe it, or not, I think you may have saved my family!

I was always the type of person to do everything for everyone else and my kids never really had chores. (funny I was never raised like this and I had a real job when I was eight years old).

I felt like no one was helping out in the family and it was all on me, now I can see the light! Everyone will help out now your “Job Jar” and it was a blessing and I really do thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Just know that I think this will change my life and family for the better!

My kids 6 and 16 are really excited about doing this and actually wanted to do start doing things before I even assembled that “Job Jar” lol:)

“House Cleaning Wars”

The doctor is in.

I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on T.V.

Have you ever noticed that people (of any size) don’t like to participate in things that have negativity attached to them?

I’ll pause here, while you ponder that for a second.

I coined the phrase … “We’re never done, until we’re done” and hope it will bring some solace to those who are running on the hamster wheel of housecleaning.

With that in mind, let’s surrender to the fact that the house will always need to be cleaned and organized.

ALWAYS!

Maybe, it’s time to approach the game of “housecleaning wars” a little differently.

Reverse psychology always worked for me and I know you’re smart enough to figure out what the opposite of screaming is.

Stop being so frustrated (just for a second) and you may be able to devise a plan, so that other’s will play nice with you.

PLAY being the operative word.

The short-term goal is to get the house clean; the more important duty is to teach your children responsibility.

Neglect this job, and you’re walking into a snake pit of despair and once those little ones are little no longer … well … you get the picture.

Kids love games and it’s up to you to teach them how to play.

All you have to do now … establish a set of directions for the game and then …. don’t waiver from them.

Just remember, if you make the game look fun, more people will want to play.
