Bet you didn’t know that you can …

#1 – Remove a splinter with Elmer’s Glue. Put a drop of Elmer’s Glue over the splinter, let it dry, and peel the dried glue off the skin. The splinter should stick to the dried glue. If not, try it again.

As much as I glue, I can’t believe that never dawned on me;)

#2 – Vinegar will heal a bruise if you soak it in a cotton ball, apply to the bruise for an hour. It will spend up the healing process and reduce the black and blueness.

#3- Before going to bed, dab honey on skin blemishes and cover with a band-aid. Will sterilize and speed up healing.

#4- A few drops of Dawn Dish Soap added to your dog’s shampoo will probably get rid of flea’s if you scrub enough.

#5- Lemon rind and mashed up strawberries whiten teeth. Just rub lemon rind, or mashed up strawberries, on your teeth after brushing and go. It’s a process.

#6- A Stomach Remedy from Granma’s Attic Here’s a remedy that can quiet stomach discomforts, from indigestion to a spastic colon. Take 1 tbsp chamomile flowers, 1 tsp fennel seeds, 2 tbsp mint leaves and steep 1 tbsp of the mix in a cup of hot water for 15 minutes. Strain and drink.

#7- For tired eyes and dark circles. Wet 2 chamomile tea bags with warm water and put one on each eye. Relax for 20 minutes.
For dark circles soak 2 cotton balls with milk and put on eyes. Relax for 20 minutes. Your eyes will be noticeably better.

#8- Beat one egg white and add a teaspoon of olive oil to apply to burns. Re-apply a few times. Take the burn away and helps prevent scaring.

#9- A spoonful of sugar gets rid of hiccups. So does biting a lime soaked in Worcestershire Sauce.

#10- Don’t try these at home … they’re meant as humor … 16 folk remedies for headaches from the Farmer’s Alamanc. Back then, they didn’t have that warning, I repeat … “don’t try these at home”!

Now we all know.

Quite Simply the Easiest Way to Get Things Done!

The “Job Jar” was created after taking note of the household chores that I was conquering by my own working mother self.

It’s shocking when you physically write down all of the jobs that it takes to run a household … but you don’t have to, I already did.

Then there were those petty and annoying sibling arguments that drove me up the wall.

Sick of yelling people!

The kids were 5, 11 and husband, when I created the “Job Jar” household chore system and resolution center.

The “Job Jar” has been used as curriculum for college level child development courses and corporate Organizational Effectiveness Training seminars and can be adapted from toddler to adult.

This simple little system works … SIMPLE being the operative word.

* Everyone gets a weekly Chore Chart stating daily jobs.
• Establish a reward system based on points.
* Select Job Cards for the week and place into a Job Jar.
* Everyone takes a turn picking Job Cards (within reason) until no jobs remain.
* Job Card selections are added to the respective Chore Charts.
* Check off chores as they are completed.
* Add up totals at the end of the week.
* Award rewards based on your value system and point totals.

Did you know that it only takes 21 days for something to become a habit?

It’s true!

To keep matters SIMPLE … just print out the Chore Chart and use it in your home each week and I know you’ll be amazed at the results. Really!

Rewarding behavior, while teaching the habit of becoming responsible, is the second most important part of this learning process.

The first is remembering that no one cleans like you do! Lighten up and see the good in the work.

Keep it simple, consistent and FUN!

“When God Created Mothers”

When the Good Lord was creating mothers, He was into His sixth day of “overtime” when the angel appeared and said. “You’re doing a lot of fiddling around on this one.”

And God said, “Have you read the specs on this order?” She has to be completely washable, but not plastic. Have 180 moveable parts…all replaceable. Run on black coffee and leftovers. Have a lap that disappears when she stands up. A kiss that can cure anything from a broken leg to a disappointed love affair. And six pairs of hands.”

The angel shook her head slowly and said. “Six pairs of hands…. no way.”

It’s not the hands that are causing me problems,” God remarked, “it’s the three pairs of eyes that mothers have to have.”

That’s on the standard model?” asked the angel. God nodded.

One pair that sees through closed doors when she asks, ‘What are you kids doing in there?’ when she already knows. Another here in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn’t but what she has to know, and of course the ones here in front that can look at a child when he goofs up and say. ‘I understand and I love you’ without so much as uttering a word.”

God,” said the angel touching his sleeve gently, “Get some rest tomorrow….”

I can’t,” said God, “I’m so close to creating something so close to myself. Already I have one who heals herself when she is sick…can feed a family of six on one pound of hamburger…and can get a nine year old to stand under a shower.”

The angel circled the model of a mother very slowly. “It’s too soft,” she sighed.

But tough!” said God excitedly. “You can imagine what this mother can do or endure.”

Can it think?”

Not only can it think, but it can reason and compromise,” said the Creator.

Finally, the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek.

There’s a leak,” she pronounced. “I told You that You were trying to put too much into this model.”

It’s not a leak,” said the Lord, “It’s a tear.”

What’s it for?”

It’s for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness, and pride.”

You are a genius, ” said the angel.

Somberly, God said, “I didn’t put it there.”

Tina from Michigan wrote …

I love it!

Believe it, or not, I think you may have saved my family!

I was always the type of person to do everything for everyone else and my kids never really had chores. (funny I was never raised like this and I had a real job when I was eight years old).

I felt like no one was helping out in the family and it was all on me, now I can see the light! Everyone will help out now your “Job Jar” and it was a blessing and I really do thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Just know that I think this will change my life and family for the better!

My kids 6 and 16 are really excited about doing this and actually wanted to do start doing things before I even assembled that “Job Jar” lol:)

Thank you soooo much!
Tina

If teaching our kids to talk, eat, sleep, dress, play, potty, clean, love, get along, listen and learn wasn’t enough … parents of this age have to deal with the enormous challenge of keeping their kids safe from world-wide evil doers.

Cue the internet.

Sorry … but the evil doers statement is one of those things, about President George Bush, Jr., that I can’t shake … it sums it up so well!

But with the bad always comes the good and these Internet Safety resources are GOOD!

Safely Ever After, Inc. provides effective, non-fearful safety workshops, seminars, and keynote speeches at schools, community organizations, churches, and corporations throughout the United States. Plus … you’ll find some FREE PDF’s on the site that are very helpful.

The Web Wise Kids mission is to teach kids, parents and the community the value of making safe and wise choices in a technologically evolving world. We do this by creating and distributing interactive content through the same media in which kids and adults live their lives.

No matter where you go … there you are … so go to one or all of these Internet Safety places and you’ll be prepared, should the evil doers find you or your precious children.

People are so creative …

citygirlgonecostal decided to make her kids their very own kid friendly cleaning kits.
