This is the best Chore System around! After trying numerous methods, I am so happy that I found the Job Jar. My kids (5 and 6) love choosing jobs from the jar and are excited to do their chores and get points for rewards. We had our first family meeting and everyone was excited to "play"...even us parents are participating! Your wonderful chore system has helped our family be more of a team when it comes to getting the chores done. Thank you for creating such a fun and motivating system that takes the "work" out of our daily "jobs"...truly the best chore system around! I highly recommend the Job Jar! - CaraMia ... who lives in the enchanted Redwood Forest of Northern California

As a time management expert, I have utilized, and believe in the efficacy of the Job Jar. Mara has constructed a masterpiece of visual instruction & organizational assistance for all who need help with organization. I have seen it used for all ages, not just juveniles. If I had to recommend one aid for reducing stress and conflict this would be it. Dr. Dean Russell, PhD, Organizational Effectiveness

  • A Prayer for Mom’s & Dad’s

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray my sanity to keep. For if some peace I do not find, I'm pretty sure I'll lose my mind. I pray I find a little quiet Far from the daily family riot May I lie back -- not have to think about what they're stuffing down the sink, or who they're with, or where they're at and what they're doing to the cat. I pray for time all to myself (did something just fall off a shelf?) To cuddle in my nice, soft bed (Oh no, another goldfish -- dead!) Some silent moments for goodness sake (Did I just hear a window break?) And that I need not cook or clean -- (well heck, I've got the right to dream) Yes now I lay me down to sleep, I pray my wits about me keep, But as I look around I know -- I must have lost them long ago! - UCB Parents

Top 10 Age Old and Not So Old Home Remedies

age-old-remediesBet you didn’t know that you can …

#1 – Remove a splinter with Elmer’s Glue. Put a drop of Elmer’s Glue over the splinter, let it dry, and peel the dried glue off the skin. The splinter should stick to the dried glue. If not, try it again.

As much as I glue, I can’t believe that never dawned on me;)

#2 – Vinegar will heal a bruise if you soak it in a cotton ball, apply to the bruise for an hour. It will spend up the healing process and reduce the black and blueness.

#3- Before going to bed, dab honey on skin blemishes and cover with a band-aid. Will sterilize and speed up healing.

#4- A few drops of Dawn Dish Soap added to your dog’s shampoo will probably get rid of flea’s if you scrub enough.

#5- Lemon rind and mashed up strawberries whiten teeth. Just rub lemon rind, or mashed up strawberries, on your teeth after brushing and go. It’s a process.

#6- A Stomach Remedy from Granma’s Attic Here’s a remedy that can quiet stomach discomforts, from indigestion to a spastic colon. Take 1 tbsp chamomile flowers, 1 tsp fennel seeds, 2 tbsp mint leaves and steep 1 tbsp of the mix in a cup of hot water for 15 minutes. Strain and drink.

#7- For tired eyes and dark circles. Wet 2 chamomile tea bags with warm water and put one on each eye. Relax for 20 minutes.
For dark circles soak 2 cotton balls with milk and put on eyes. Relax for 20 minutes. Your eyes will be noticeably better.

#8- Beat one egg white and add a teaspoon of olive oil to apply to burns. Re-apply a few times. Take the burn away and helps prevent scaring.

#9- A spoonful of sugar gets rid of hiccups. So does biting a lime soaked in Worcestershire Sauce.

#10- Don’t try these at home … they’re meant as humor … 16 folk remedies for headaches from the Farmer’s Alamanc. Back then, they didn’t have that warning, I repeat … “don’t try these at home”!

Now we all know.
